Terms & Conditions

Effective October 31, 2026

These terms govern your use of Nationboards at nationboards.com and its associated pages. By using the site, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you do not agree, stop using the site. Our Privacy Policy explains how visitor information is handled; optional analytics requires a separate choice.

1. A public window on the world

Nationboards is a free reference directory of countries and territories, with country facts, political information, and relationship assessments. All reference pages remain public and read-only. No account, subscription, payment, or user contribution is required to browse them. The site may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued.

Names, flags, borders, classifications, inclusion, and the existence of a relationship page do not express diplomatic recognition, endorsement, or a position on sovereignty or territorial disputes. Nationboards is not an official government service.

2. Information and assessment limits

Content is provided for general information and education. Facts, leadership records, translations, and assessments can be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. A verification date describes a recorded check, not continuous monitoring. Missing information does not establish that a fact, event, tension, or relationship does not exist.

Some relationship scores and explanations are prepared with artificial intelligence, including OpenAI models. Scores are interpretive judgments, not objective measurements, forecasts, public opinion surveys, or confirmation of current events. Directional scores concern government policy and conduct; the overall score is an independent assessment, not an average. AI-assisted text may contain errors or omit important context.

Check primary and current sources before relying on information. Nothing on this site is legal, financial, investment, travel, diplomatic, or other professional advice. Do not use it as the sole basis for safety-critical or consequential decisions.

3. Responsible use

You may browse, link to, and use the site lawfully. Do not attempt unauthorized access, bypass security or access restrictions, introduce malicious code, interfere with availability, or misrepresent yourself as Nationboards. Automated access must respect technical restrictions and must not overload the service.

Optional membership. You may create a free account using Google sign-in, a unique username, and acceptance of these terms. Google is the only sign-in method; Nationboards does not provide passwords or password recovery. Keep access to your Google account secure. An email address can belong to only one Nationboards account; do not impersonate another person, attempt to access another member’s account, or evade account restrictions.

Usernames contain 3–30 English letters, numbers, or underscores and are stored in lowercase. The private account portal lets you change your username and optionally provide, change, or clear your gender and countries or territories of birth and residence. Membership does not create a public profile or permit edits to directory content. There are currently no paid memberships, social features, or self-service account-deletion controls. We may restrict accounts where necessary to address abuse or protect the service, subject to applicable law.

Do not imply that Nationboards endorses your work, or present an altered assessment as an unchanged Nationboards statement. Nothing in these terms restricts uses, quotation, accessibility tools, research, or reuse rights protected by law or granted by an applicable open-data license.

4. Data credits and reuse

The country catalog, search-alias snapshot, localized-name snapshot, and reviewed mapping compilation are available under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0). Country names and starter facts derive from mledoze/countries, pinned revision c2ac004, with codes and statistical regions checked against UN M49. Turkish and Spanish country-name translations use the same pinned dataset.

Treaty and organization membership records come from dieghernan/Country-Codes-and-International-Organizations, pinned revision 3a7203a, retrieved on October 20, 2026. The source reports a January 29, 2020 update. These historical records preserve source membership types and do not establish current membership or exhaustive treaty coverage. This source has a separate upstream MIT license notice.

Country facts, government information, and leadership records also draw on Wikidata’s CC0 structured data, with coverage varying by territory. Flags come from Flagpedia’s public-domain SVG collection. The downloadable snapshots record retrieval dates, sources, and reviewed changes.

When reusing an ODbL database, follow its attribution, notice, and any applicable share-alike requirements. Source licenses govern the source material and take precedence over conflicting restrictions here. They do not apply to private account information or automatically license Nationboards branding, design, original prose, or relationship assessments. Private account information is not part of the public catalog or its downloads. Rights in other materials remain with their respective owners, subject to applicable law. Flag use may also be subject to local rules.

5. External services and links

Links to source material and third-party sites are provided for reference. We do not control their content, security, availability, or privacy practices. Their own terms and policies apply when you use them. A link does not imply endorsement.

Signing in requires a Google account and uses Google’s authentication service, subject to Google’s terms and privacy practices. If Google sign-in is unavailable or you lose access to that Google account, you may be unable to access your Nationboards account; the public directory remains available without signing in.

6. Availability, warranties, and liability

To the extent permitted by law, the site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, uninterrupted availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not promise that every error will be corrected or that the service will always be secure or available.

To the extent permitted by law, Nationboards and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including lost profits, data, or opportunities, arising from use of or inability to use the site or reliance on its content. Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence where exclusion is prohibited, or any other liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

7. Your rights and changes to these terms

Mandatory laws and consumer protections that apply to you remain in effect. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration, waive collective-action rights, or require an exclusive court. Any dispute is subject to applicable law and the courts with lawful jurisdiction.

We may update these terms as the service changes. Revised terms will be published here with an updated effective date and will apply prospectively, subject to any notice or agreement required by law. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
